Party Hippo - Shaker Card (Created by Jane Z.)

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

TGIF!!!! For this week's card, it was time to try something new.  A technique that I have never attempted before, so here's my first shaker card....

A little different view to see the confetti inside...

This is Party Hippo (S201) and Lg. Fancy Happy Birthday sentiment (H037).  Such a fun card to make... I don't know why I haven't tried this technique sooner?!?!?!?

I started by colouring the image with Tombow Markers and water. After the image was all coloured and dry, I needed to get a plan together on what I was going to use for a border around the image and the materials for inside the shaker part.

After some tough choices, I decided on a stitched square die to create the frame of the shaker.  Two dies were used in the set - the larger one to cut the outside edge and the next size smaller for the inside of the frame.  The main image was cut down to a slightly smaller size than the frame.  A clear plastic sheet was glued on the inside of the frame.  Thin strips of foam tape were applied behind the frame to cover the entire square.  Before adhering the foam tape, I dug through my craft room to find some really old birthday confetti, that was purchased from the local dollar store, many years ago.  This confetti was added on top of the main image loosely.  The frame with the foam tape on the back, was stuck down on top of the main image square.  It is very important to ensure that you have a good seal around the image and frame, or you will spill out all of your contents of your shaker very quickly, when you pick it up!!!  I found this out the hard way! lol!

The designer paper is from Echo Park - Birthday Wishes 6x6 paper pad, along with SU Not Quite Navy, Really Rust and White Cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with a Versamark Ink Pad and White Embossing Powder was applied then heated.  Foam tape was also used to attach the sentiment.  To complete this card, a couple of decorative plastic balloons (from the dollar store - purchased many years ago too), were added on the top corner of the frame.  A small piece of linen thread was tied around the knot part of each balloon, to finish this card.

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

Happy Saturday Friends!  Here's a card that may make you feel a little warmer on this very chilly day...

This is Beach Girl Patti (Q028).  Such an adorable image that makes you want to dream about those hot summer days... especially at times like this, when the temperature here in Ontario is in the negative 30s.  Brrrrr!!!

I started by colouring the image with Tombow Markers and water. After the image was all coloured and dry, I applied some Glossy Accents on Patti's tube and flippers.  I love the shiny and slightly raised dimension that this gives to the card.

The pattern papers are from Echo Park-That's My Boy 6x6 Paper Pad, along with some SU Dusty Durango and White cardstock.  The image was cut down to a smaller size to better fit this card.   Foam tape was applied under the main image to help focus on Patti.  A YNS Die called Double Stitched Hills was used to cut a wave like background.  The flip flop die comes from Taylored Expressions and a white gel pen was used to highlight the flowers on the flip flops.  To complete this card, a bunch of YNS-Crystal Clear and Mint Green Gumdrops were added.  I hope you like today's card... and also hope you are able to keep warm this weekend!

Myron Monkey's Heart Balloon (Created by Jane Z.)

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

Happy Friday! Today's post is a special one for me...this Sunday on Valentine's Day, my oldest child celebrates his "Sweet 16"!  Wow--where do the years go????  I wanted a card that was masculine and a little Valentine-ish, yet more Birthday-ish--so here's what I came up with...

This is Myron Monkey's Heart Balloon (M149).  Such a fun and adorable image...I really hope Mike likes it.  Some days, I think he is part monkey, in the way he moves around the equipment and farm - LOL!

I started by colouring the image with Tombow Markers and water. After the image was all coloured and dry, I glued down the die cut numbers - "16" on the balloon, then applied some Glossy Accents on top.

The main image was die cut using a rectangle stitched die and layered with SU Chocolate Chip cardstock.  A strip of SU Alpine stitched ribbon was placed under the layered image.  The designer paper is from Bo Bunny-Safari 6x6 paper pad, along with SU Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Garden Green and White Cardstock.  Foam tape was used under the main image to add some dimension.  The sentiment was cut using SU Very Vanilla cardstock from an Elizabeth Craft Die called Happy Birthday.  For some embellishments, I went for a "jungle" type of look by adding parts from a Memory Box die called Swaying Palm Die.  I just used the leaves of the palm tree for decorating the two corners of the main image.  To complete this card, a couple of brown buttons were placed on top of the palm leaves to give it a coconut-kind of look.

Supplies Used:

Fairy Tale Bug (Created by Lisa Z.)

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

Happy Saturday Friends!  Here's a fun and cheery card that's sure to put a smile on your face...
 Lisa

This is Fairy Tale Bug (P119).  This cute image could make for a great birthday card, get well card or a thinkin' of you type of card!

I started by colouring the image with Tombow Markers and water. After the image was all coloured and dry, I applied some Zig-Wink of Stella brush marker-dark pink to the book.  This creates a little added sparkle to the card and is very easy to apply.

The pattern papers are from My Mind's Eye-Now and Then 6x6 Paper Pad, along with some SU Blush Blossom, Blue Bayou and White cardstock.  The image was cut down to a smaller size to better fit this card.   To keep this card relatively flat for mailing purposes, I did not use any foam tape under the main image.  A couple of strips of lace ribbon were added under the image, along with 2 banners.  The sentiment was die cut using a Penny Black Die Set called Hooray.  I just love the font in this set. To complete this card, a bunch of YNS-White Gumdrops were added on the banners.  I hope this card made you smile today!

Supplies Used:
Ink - Tombow Markers - N15, N35, N55, N75, 373, 025, 743, 969, 856, 977, and 126 .  Versamark Ink Pad and Black Embossing Powder. SU Blush Blossom Ink Pad for sponging the edges of the main image.

Paper - My Mind's Eye - Now and Then 6x6 Paper Pad; SU Blush Blossom, Blue Bayou and White Cardstock.

Leapin' Larry (Created by Jane Z.)

Hello High Hopes Fans!!!

Happy Friday!  For today's post, I was going for a fun, yet universal card that could be used as a birthday card, get well card, or possibly a thinking of you card...
 Jane

This is Leapin' Larry (R145).  Such a fun and adorable image...

I started by colouring the image with Tombow Markers and water. After the image was all coloured and dry, I applied some Wink of Stella - Glitter Yellow brush marker to the centre of the flower and some Wink of Stella - clear glitter on Larry's spots on his body.  It's a bit difficult to see this in the picture though.

The main image was fussy cut out.  MFT dies called Stitched Ovals were used to cut the various layers of ovals using SU Pretty in Pink and Wild Wasabi Cardstock.  The designer paper is from Echo Park-Bundle of Joy 6x6 paper pad.  Foam tape was used under the oval (only on the left half of the oval), to add some dimension to the main image. I decided to leave off the sentiment for now, as I couldn't decide on what to put on.  This maybe a convenient card to have on hand for those last minute ones that are needed.  To complete this card, SU wild wasabi stitched ribbon was taped down on an angle at each corner, along with a light green flower gemstone.

Supplies Used:
